Their Tango progresivo is a new, fascinating fusion between traditional Tango and the pulse of the two metropols Buenos Aires and Berlin. Like a musical diary, La Bicicleta's compositions tell us about a night bus, the bridges of Berlin, a drowned bandoneon, discovering Tango and jazzy places, or the wide landscapes of Argentina... Bandoneon, violin and piano take you right into the heart of modern Tango...
The aim of La Bicicleta is to cross the borders of modern Tango and help to spread the wonderful possibilities of Tango music worldwide.

La Bicicleta was founded in 2009 by the German composer and bandoneonist Judith Brandenburg and the Argentine composer and pianist Javier Tucat Moreno with the aim to perform their own contemporary tango compositions. Soon La Bicicleta developed their special style which they called Tango progresivo, and invitations ranged from Jazz Clubs and Milongas (tango ball) to chamber music concerts and festivals. The Swiss violinist Florian Kellerhals joined the Trio in 2011, replacing Carolina Mazalesky, and enriched the sound with his influence of contemporary music.
In 2011 and 2013, La Bicicleta recorded two CDs presenting entirely their own compositions.
In 2012, La Bicicleta gave 12 concerts in Argentina where their music was declared of cultural interest in bilateral exchange by the Argentine Senat, and it's members became guests of honour of the city of Rosario. La Bicicleta's music was received with enthusiasm at the International Chamber Music Festival Stavanger, Norway, as well as at the International Music Festival in Hué, Vietnam in 2014.
Apart from their own compositions, La Bicicleta have played e.g. Astor Piazzolla's „Maria de Buenos Aires“ and took part in performances of Martín Palmeris „Misa Tango“. La Bicicleta has invited several special guests, among them Manfred Preis, bass-clarinet player of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, or the Argentine singers Lily Dahab and Anahí Settón. In 2016, La Bicicleta invited the bassoonist Maria-José García Zamora (Komische Oper Berlin) for their programme „La Bicicleta on a Winter Journey“, performing their own instrumental version of Franz Schubert's song cycle.
In 2016, Javier Tucat Moreno left the Trio. The pianist Corinna Söller has become new steady member, adding her vast experience in both classical and world music to La Bicicleta's style.
In August 2017, La Bicicleta followed the invitation to play at the World Music and Dance Festival in Hakodate, Japan. The tour is supported by Initiative Musik gGmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
